Getting to that special day can take a bit of learning as well as conversations with your florist to identify what you want and how they can express it in a way that feels like you. So much of our work at Juniper Flowers is talking with clients to understand their vision and goals, allowing us to create florals that match. We hope this blog post can help you articulate the spark that will enable your florist to create the arrangements of your dreams.
When choosing a florist, you can inform your selection by considering three things. One, your color palette. Two, how much of the physical place and season of your wedding you want to see reflected in the pieces. And, three, how well your vision and the style of your florist align.
The Juniper Flowers team loves developing custom color palettes with our clients. We have experience working across the color spectrum with palettes ranging from traditional whites to lighthearted pastels to deeper autumnal selections.

While designing in any palette, we prioritize using local blooms sourced from our own farm in Basalt, CO or from growers of similar scale and sustainability practices. The Western Slope of Colorado hosts an especially vibrant local flower scene. When outsourcing flowers, we often look to farmers in Silt, Paonia, and Grand Junction who tend to have longer growing seasons than we do.
Producing our own blooms and supporting similar farmers is a huge part of our work because it provides an avenue to care for the land and people that make beautiful bouquets possible. The outcomes of this care are many—soil regeneration, enhanced biodiversity, building pollinator habit, and economic investments in the communities we inhabit. Choosing local flowers and florists for your wedding is an opportunity to contribute to the success, diversity, and resilience of our ecological and social communities.

In a world where conscience is as fashionable as style, we take pride in our commitment to sustainability. From sourcing locally grown blooms to championing eco-friendly practices, our approach is as chic as it is conscientious, ensuring your celebration leaves a lasting impression on hearts and the planet.

We prioritize creating bountiful, beautiful pieces from local blooms. As a result, our style is wonderfully non-traditional. Pieces feature wild elements and a range of flowers that reflect the varied seasons and climates of western Colorado. Peonies and anemones in early summer open the gates to cosmos, zinnias, dahlias, marigolds, and so many more by the season’s end. At any time of the year, we artfully harness the essence of each season, cherishing its bountiful offerings to craft eco-conscious arrangements that reflect the beauty and vitality of nature'sever-changing tapestry.
The structure of our arrangements have shown as much variety as our individual blooms and seasons. Some eyes are drawn to tight, compact designs wherein a specific focal flower commands the attention of onlookers. Others may prefer a design so light and airy that provides movement, texture, and breath throughout the room.

We believe that so much beauty exists in our own backyard and use floral design as a way to celebrate that beauty. Our designs often include unique touches - a pop of foraged greenery, dried farm foliage, edible greenery, or unique varieties not found from wholesalers. Working with a local farmer florist for your wedding day is a distinctive process as unique as you.
The flowers in our arrangements are living momentos that celebrate the character and charm of your wedding season. Getting to know your florist and your local flower community can be the seed that helps you grow beautiful, eye-catching wedding adornments that are an authentic celebration of you and the spaces you love most.
